How To Get There

As usual, since there will be a lot of complicated on-site arrangement for the Eco-Pad Yatra, interested pilgrims are advised to make your own traveling arrangement to Mumbai and/or Aurangabad. We are providing information regarding the transportation options and recommended hotels as a suggestion for your consideration only.

Aurangabad is well connected by Air, Rail and Road to other parts of country. Aurangabad enjoys central location with respect to Maharashtra and Goa. All major cities in Maharashtra lie within a radius of 500 Km. Aurangabad has a good network of National and State highways connecting all parts of the country. Aurangabad railhead is directly connected to many parts of the country including major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad. Direct flights from Mumbai and Delhi are available on a daily basis. One Flight except on Mondays from Udaipur is also available during tourist seasons.

Aurangabad has its own International airport. A new Airport Terminal Building was inaugurated on Nov 21,2008 on outskirts of the city. Chikalthana Airport is equipped with all modern facilities (Airport code : IXU). Air India, Jet Airways, Kingfisher Class, Kingfisher Red and JetLite have a number of regular flights from Mumbai, Delhi & Hyderabad to Aurangabad. The nearest international airports are Mumbai and Pune. Kingfisher Class also operates a seasonal flight from Udaipur to Aurangabad.

Aurangabad is a Railway Station of South-Central railway on Manmad - Secunderabad section (Railway Station code - AWB). The city has direct rail links to important Indian cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, etc. Aurangabad Railway Station is an average Indian railway station, with an information booth, waiting rooms, rest rooms, book stalls, canteen and a computerized ticket booking office. Aurangabad is linked by national highways and state highways to all parts of the country. Aurangabad has excellent road connectivity to all important cities in Maharashtra namely Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune, Nasik etc. The highway connections make the journey to the world famous destinations of Ajanta and Ellora very comfortable.

Bus services to Aurangabad are as follows:

  • From Mumbai - Aurangabad can be reached by road from Mumbai via Pune or Nasik. The best option if you can not afford flights is train though. Via road Pune is a faster option despite a bit longer distance. MSRTC (Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation) and private buses ply regularly and is an overnight journey.
  • From Pune if you do not wish to drive then the safest and most reliable option is an MSRTC (Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation) Shivneri Air-conditioned Bus Service.
  • From Nasik there is a similar semi luxury Asiad bus service of MSRTC (Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation) with semi luxury Asiad buses available every hour departing from Nasik Central Bus Stand (CBS).
  • From Nagpur also Aurangabad has also a good road connectivity. If you are traveling by bus, it will take you a bit more than 12 hours. MSRTC (Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation) operates semi luxury - Asiad and ordinary buses to Aurangabad from Nagpur.

IMPORTANT NOTE

Please submit the registration form first before making any payment. Your registration will be under consideration upon receipt and we will send an email to confirm acceptance/non-acceptance. We reserve the right to refuse any registration at our sole discretion. The registration team will submit your registration to the screening committee for acceptance of your registration. However if registration is not permitted due to past records of misbehavior and/or other reasons that can be disturbing to the walking pilgrimage in part or in whole, we shall refund the registration fee if you have already paid. Therefore we advise that payment should not be made until your registration is accepted.

NO REFUND is possible after registration is complete with payment. As soon as we receive your registration, the travel agency as well as the monastics will start purchasing and preparing for all the necessary materials for the pilgrimage. A portion of the registration fee will go to support the teachers, monks and nuns going on the pilgrimage. Registration is also not refundable should you discontinue the journey at any one point or should you change your mind before the journey begins.

All pilgrims participating in this walking pilgrimage are expected to strictly adhere to the etiquettes of those in retreat. There will be a disciplinary team that will guard the situation at their best ability. Should there be misbehavior or offensive actions not adhering to the etiquettes, pilgrims will be requested to leave the group immediately so that others can continue their walking retreat without further delay.
